In the world of blockchains, NFT’s and many other trending scenarios, Artificial Intelligence is the one which is used in every innovation in different kind of ways which makes it perfect for the world to grow. Artificial Intelligence has its presence in almost every field of work, from healthcare and Medical Imaging analysis to self-driving cars all the things are covered with AI. There is one more area where AI plays a very important role that is Security. When it comes to security the one thing arises in our mind is safety. Everyone wants its data and private documents to be in safe hands, there should not be any malware attacks to our data.

We use different antivirus software to secure our devices from viruses but, it is only applicable to some extent as there are many techniques hackers use to crack these anti-viruses and hack your devices. When it comes to national security, we can’t compromise to lose the confidential documents and codes of our nation to be in wrong hands. Artificial Intelligence plays a very important role in National security. National security of different countries has their own trained AI systems which helps them to run pattern recognitions, detect malware, even the minutest behaviour of ransomware attacks before it enters to their systems. There are four major technologies — nuclear, cyber, biotech, aerospace where Artificial Intelligence is majorly used for the safety of our nation. Artificial intelligence in national securities has shown good progress reports over the past years. Things have gone from traditional to advanced, most of the work is done by Machines and hence less manpower is required. This is due to the advantages of field of Artificial Intelligence in machine learning and with the growth there is much more to come.

Let us come to the point that how Artificial intelligence help us in the field of national security.

In defence systems, applications based on AI rely on training data from a variety of inputs. It runs the algorithms and find whether the commands given to the systems are correct or wrong. These all include aerial photography, body scanners, technical cybersecurity feeds, or data generated by the physical sensors in the fields.

With these datasets which must be precise a good machine learning model can be developed which can easily detect any errors, cyberattacks, monitor the activity of the enemy on ground and tell us its location. [1]

Artificial intelligence application is used to make vaults, computer operations, satellite operations protected by generating auto-locks. It also helps giving authorisation to a decided person that is, only that person can have the codes or other raw data. This is done by using some Artificial intelligence algorithms and sensors which helps in performing the tasks. Without that person no other person can unlock the data which can be very confidential for the country’s nationality.

Now let us come to the topic that how the dataset gets ready to train the Machine Learning model for defence. There is a lot of data available publicly which can be used as a dataset to make a good defence system. We can get the data from deep and dark web sources. There are some leaked classified data or discussed malware attacks which we can get from the communication channels across the deep and dark web. If we combine these data and sources with technical fields such as network traffic data, it will create a great national security strategy for addressing cyber risks. There are fringe sites like 4chan and 8kun, they have some active people available which works in stopping the cyber-attacks with the help of artificial intelligence techniques. By this we can say that AI is important to locate the obfuscated chatter and indicate us about the attack which has been planned.

Artificial Intelligence also plays a major role in military operations. From scout machine to Air jets all machine runs on AI algorithms [2]. The satellite, heavy drones used in wars and defensive attacks all are based on artificial intelligence. Some of the AI based systems has such a strong command that it analyse the data feeds from other number of domains and display it in a centralised way.

When it comes to national security, it’s not always about the inter-nation security matters, Security within the country is also very important and for that some high-level programs have been designed. One of the examples is that the CCTV cameras in country are integrated with the facial recognition system which helps them to recognise the culprit and fetch the data related to him that they have in their systems, by this they had made country very safe and a better place to live for normal people.

In some of the countries, High level robots has been designed for security purposes at war when their man force is about to finish then they can use them in replacements of their soldiers. These robots are integrated with advanced weapons which functions as per the training they are provided with. This includes recognition of their enemies, aiming of the weapon and some other crucial decisions. Some of the robots are integrated with the program that provide medical assistance to the soldiers who gets injured during the war.

Artificial Intelligence has also grown in air force securities. In the recent time, Symposium has been held in New Delhi held by IAF RKS Bhadauria [3] . His statement reflected in implementing the AI concepts for the air force. He focused on enhanced detection capability and early identification of targets. The main key technique is multi-platform multi-sensor data fusion. He also focused on the DDS i.e., Decision Support System architecture which is needed to emerge for complex combats. These systems detect any unidentified flying object entered in the nation without any permission. The missiles installed in the jets has a system to lock the target and be in a motion accordingly, so the missile hits the running target. In case if there is an emergency landing AI system helps to identify the flat surface so that the jet can land without any crash.

Drones on the other hands are used to identify how many enemies are there at the place so that task force can build a strategy to perform the task. Drones are also used for surveillance as they are equipped with special cameras and with its intelligence it can differentiate between the opponent and peers. These systems can also identify injured person or if there is anything used for bait so that the militants can act according to that.

There are many bomb detection devices present in places like malls, airports, Railway stations and in other crowded areas. These all have artificial intelligence software’s installed in it including the sensors which helps to detect the bombs and inform us. Underside vehicle bomb detection is very famous AI device which helps us to detect the bomb under the car. Every time we park out car in big parking lots, mall parking, airport parking they always check the bottom of the car with this AI installed machine to check if there is any bomb fitted under the car.

Due to COVID lot of things has been changed and we can say that this is the case of national security as these infectious diseases can ruin the nation so there are many devices which helps in detection of Infectious disease with the help of artificial intelligence. There are many applications made which detect the red zone areas. Not only COVID, but there can also be some gas attacks on the nation for which air check devices has been installed to many places which are monitored timely so that the air quality can be checked and if there is any problem in the air quality results it would be solved before time. With this we can say that Artificial Intelligence plays a major role when it comes to the security of the nation.
